If you're going to be crazy, you have to get paid for it or else you're going to be locked up - Hunter S. Thompson

[COMMENT][Dennis Miller] had a guest on talking about a new book about Grover Cleveland. Does that ring a bell? He was a Mayor of Buffalo, the Governor of New York and the President of the United States all with in 5 or 6 the late 1800's. He was......the Lady Gaga of his time. What the hell can you tell someone who watches Duck Dynasty or TMZ? They probably wouldn't care. Or how about this, on this date in 1846 - The U.S. annexed New Mexico. Annexed? What does that mean? Seems we have all kinds of segments of our culture that have their own language these days. History.......ehhhh. I guess that means in the future it will be repeated. I don't want to come off as an elitist or someone who thinks they know more, I'm just getting old. Going back and looking at history is wonderful. Soo much has happened before all of us got here. And I have soo much more reading to do, I'm not at all informed on history like I would like to be. On this date in 1865 - A patent for liquid soap was received by William Sheppard. That's me. Some kid with their head in a iPhone could care less. How about this one: on this date in 1902 - In Hartford, CT, U.S. President Theodore Roosevelt became the first president of the United States to ride in an automobile. An automo....what? I wish the people that came before us were more important than people think of them now. Maybe they will be in the future. I wonder if there is a good history radio show, oh's called McIntyre in the Morning ;)........ How about this one: 1762 - Ann Franklin became the editor of the Mercury of Newport in Rhode Island. She was the first female editor of an American newspaper. That's wild.....I.....I did not know that. We have a huge treasure trove of things and people before us, lets celebrate it!

[RADIO]Jazz legend [Marian McPartland] dies
Marian McPartland, a UK-born jazz pianist and host of the National Public Radio show “Piano Jazz,” has died in New York. She was 95.

The Marian McPartland Trio at The Hickory House From January 2013. Great stuff.

Legendary 'paranormal radio' talk show host [Art Bell] is returning with a new show in September. In anticipation of the big event, an Art Bell fan Ross Howard has put together a few unofficial trailers to get listeners in the mood - above you'll find one on time travel themes, with excerpts from shows with Michio Kaku, Terence McKenna, and (I think?) alleged time-traveler John Titor. It provides a good cross-section of what Art Bell had to offer, from interviews with highly credentialed scientists through to unknowns with extraordinary claims. These are nicely done and bound to be a huge hit with long time fans.

YouTube becomes radio’s new transmitter.

[QUOTE] "I don't remember any shootings on the Dick Van Dyke Show" - [Brian Whitman]

[PODCASTS]The Edge podcast with [Mark Thompson]. How he managed to get [Elliot Gould] I have no idea how he pulled this off. Elliot has so many stories, married to Barbara Streisand a long time ago and in the original MASH movie. Gould has just been everywhere and with all the big names in Hollywood. Elliott said he spend quality time with Alfred Hitchcock. This is just an amazing interview.

[Adam Carolla] has a dream.
The actor-comedian and host of "The Adam Carolla Show" has a deal with Harper Collins imprint It Books for "President Me," a blueprint for the world he'd like to see.
