Listen To Many, Speak To A Few - William Shakespeare

[COMMENT]I know it's a big story. The firefighters that died in that fire. I heard the story at about 9am on KFI Monday and they hammered this all day long, as well as many other stations. But I gotta tell you that when you hear that 19 men burned to death, you do not want to hear about it all day. I had to pretty much turn the radio off. I don't know if they realize how horrific it is to hear this story more than once. Who could? 19 good men could not escape the flames and died. I can't even wrap my head around that. It's a big story but repeating it over and over only makes people tune away, I guarantee it. Then on my way home Conway tells this story about a Hawthorne policeman shooting a dog to death. I thought to myself, why in the hell would you air this story and he said go up to our website and see the video of the dog getting shot, seriously? The human brain can only take soo much you know? I think it may be possible to get post traumatic stress from just listening to the news. These kind of stories are not things that you can think about for too long, it will effect your metal health. These are news stations, I get it, but I don't think you want me to turn it off...do you?

[RADIO]Tuesday [Mark Levin] gave us a great history lesson on the 4th of July, this man is soo smart and such a valued citizen. He also may have revealed the title of his new book. He was talking about "The Levin Liberty Project". He has possible solutions to our political predicament and said that we will not fix Washington....in Washington. His book comes out in August.

Tuesday [Larry Elder] had singer [Tony Orlando] on to talk about the 40th anniversary of the song "Tie a Yellow Ribbon". It's an amazing story about this song. I very much remember what a big deal this song was when I was a kid. It was a great interview. Tony sounds like such an upbeat guy and very positive. Looking at his website there is the full story about the song and a concert schedule, he's still out there working. He's going to be at the Nixon Library to celebrate the anniversary of the song.

["Sweet Dick" Whittington], is having a birthday today, he's 79. I heard Dick doing his morning show at KGIL a lot as a kid. My mother always had it on and laughed and laughed. We once took a birthday cake to him at the studio. We actually were invited in and talked on the air for a minute.
His greatest fame in Los Angeles was in the morning drive time slot at KGIL AM 1260 in the "Sin Fernando Valley". For a brief time, he left KGIL to do the evening drive time slot at KFI AM 640. He also was briefly heard in the late 1980s on KIEV (870 AM) and, for a few months in 1989, was back at KABC AM. According to the entry in www.laradio.com, he has retired in San Luis Obispo and is writing a novel.

[Gary Lycan] wrote this article about Dick last year.
