Marc's 300th!

Last night I listened to Marc Maron do his 300th podcast. It ran about an hour and a half. He had three segments with a guest in each, including comedian Andy Kindler. He also had this guy on, Jesse Thorn, who has his own little podcast network called Maximum Fun. I've never heard of it and need to check that out. This 300th is a really great show. He reflects on how he went from buying a couple of microphones to actually making some money and getting a ton of people to listen. The podcast download count is now 53 million—400,000 downloads a week...good god almighty. It's great to see someone like Marc, who I think is a decent person have some success. After I heard that he has done some interviews that I didn't even know about I subscribed to his premium content. He did an interview with Steven Wright, gotta hear that. It's only $8.99.....a year! 300 hours of content for $9? Are you kidding me? Rock on Marc!
Here is an interview with Marc Maron from August 1st with

Michael Medved told a funny story about how he drove to work on Thursday. Parked his car on the street in downtown Seattle, which I thought was odd. When he got out of his car, some guy on a bike saw him and took both of his hands off his handle bars....looked right at Mike and gave him the two handed middle fingers as he rode by.

It's funny I really am growing weary of Tom Leykis. I try to listen at the top of the show to see what he's going to talk about. Today he comes on and talks about "hey you if you hate your job and your boss...fucking quit you moron! You are the moron that took the job, stop taking the abuse". I understand what he was trying to say but I'm one of those people that has had the same job for 15 and half years now and it's no picnic. Not everybody can have your life Tom. So Tom comes on and talks about how successful he's been, that he built a business (I've heard this over and over for three months) and will never take shit from anybody and that he is supremely confident in himself and bla bla bla. Good for you Tom. If you think I'm gonna listen to you call me a moron and then go on to brag about what a great guy you are, screw you. This is not a good show. You are just suck a dick most of the time. Why in the hell would I waste my time listening to that shit?

I heard about this article today from the great Bernie Goldberg. Media Shows Its Bias, Calls Romney's Truths 'Gaffes' Investor's Business Daily-Aug 1, 2012. The media is trying to make it sound like Romney had a bad trip abroad, nothing could be further from the truth. Goldberg's book "Bias" is a must read, always love him interviewed on the radio, smart guy.

"Let Us Talk", a documentary produced and directed by John Lavall, documents the struggles that station owners and journalists face to stay on the air in Sierra Leone, Africa. This sounds so interesting. Gotta check out this article. "Let Us Talk" is a brave little film that bears witness to the resilience of the country's independent radio journalists. Without money for spare parts for equipment and the generator, reporters by necessity wear a number of hats. As the camera zooms in to reveal an archaic bunch of vacuum tubes and copper wiring, an employee of Radio Moa uses duct tape to patch up the gear so that his station can get back on the air.

Unlimited radio streaming on Spotify comes to US Android users.

From Amazon: #1 New York Times bestselling author Brad Thor returns with his most explosive thriller ever. Somewhere deep inside the United States government is a closely guarded list. Members of Congress never get to see it—only the President and a secret team of advisers. Once your name is on the list, it doesn’t come off . . . until you’re dead.

On Hugh Hewitt, Brad Thor with his new novel "Black List". This guy is so smart it's scary. Hugh read this and was gaga over it. Talking about drones and real life during the interview Brad believes that within ten years there will be over 30,000 drones flying in the sky's of the US.
